Mission Statement

The Cambridge Arts Festival strives to ensure that all local artists have the opportunity to display their art forms in a pleasant location to be viewed by members of their own community.

About Cambridge Arts Festival

The Cambridge Arts Festival is celebrating 17 years in 2012. The Cambridge Arts Festival began in September 1995 and has been an annual event held in Cambridge every June. The Cambridge Arts Festival is a grass roots organization aimed to provide a space for emerging and established local artists to display their talents for Cambridge and the surrounding communities. The difference between the Cambridge Arts Festival and any other festival in Ontario is that it is free for artists, and free for the public.

For the Cambridge Arts Festival, artists is an inclusive term referring to visual artists, musicians, dancers, performers, poets, writers, installation artists, short film makers, and much more. We strive to broaden the public’s horizon in what art encompasses.

In 2012, the Cambridge Arts Festival will be held on Saturday June 2 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. The festival focuses on including all art forms and we expect to host 8,000 or more people at this annual event.

The Cambridge Arts Festival focuses on giving local artists an opportunity to display their artwork whether it be on one of our three live stages, displaying their work, creating their work at the festival, and any other way an artist’s work may manifest itself at our festival.

Since 2008, the Cambridge Arts Festival has been held at the new Civic Administrative Building. This new space enables the festival to utilize a larger space including three stages, a children’s area, space for displaying artwork, holding performances, space for workshops, and live installations. The children’s area is located in the centre of the festival, enabling children to be at the core of this creative event. In 2010, we had 8 large garage doors erected for 8 graphic/graffiti artists from Cambridge, Kitchener, and New York City to create work on between 2:00 and 10:00 pm. It was amazing to see the artwork unfold as the artists worked on the garage doors.
